When did fear become such a bad thing?

Over and over again when arguing for or against Coronavirus restrictions I hear "I won't live my life in fear!!" Don't get me wrong, the Bible has a lot to say about not being afraid. But also hear me say, the Bible has a lot to say about seeking wisdom.

I'm afraid of heights... to be more exact, I'm afraid of falling from a great height. That means when I'm at the Grand Canyon, I spend extra time placing my step to make sure I'm on sturdy ground.

I'm afraid of getting heart disease and diabetes. Which means I watch what I eat, exercise, and get blood work done every year.

I'm afraid of serious injury in a car accident. Which means I wear my seat belt and follow the rules of the road.

I'm afraid of getting COVID. Which means I wear a mask and distance myself from large crowds.

Living in wisdom is not living in fear.
